Los autores del informe Digital News Report España 2021 son investigadores doctores de DIGITAL UNAV – Center for Internet Studies and Digital Life de la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra, patrocinador y socio académico del proyecto Digital News Report desde la edición 2014. Están disponibles en este mismo sitio la edición 2015, la edición 2016, la edición 2017, la edición 2018, la edición 2019 y la edición 2020. Todos los datos, salvo que se especifique lo contrario, provienen de una encuesta online realizada por YouGov entre finales de enero y principios de febrero para el Reuters Institute Digital News Report, un estudio internacional que cubre 46 países, dirigido por el Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism de la Universidad de Oxford, y con el impulso de patrocinadores y socios académicos en todo el mundo.
