Futuro do Jornalismo: se é uma atividade de grande relevo social, justifica-se o apoio do Estado?

Uma das conclusões do debate sobre o futuro do jornalismo organizado pela revista Gerador no dia 3 de outubro salientou que o jornalismo precisa de ser enquadrado como uma atividade de grande relevo social e por isso o apoio institucional do Estado vai tornar-se necessário a curto prazo. Como poderá esta investida concretizar-se? Através de apoio a projetos jornalísticos, oferecendo benefícios fiscais às empresas, ou financiando cidadãos, ou grupos específicos, como alunos ou estudantes, para que estes assinem conteúdos jornalísticos à sua escolha.

Miguel Crespo, investigador do IBERIFIER, sintetiza desta forma a reflexão sobre as novas conceptualizações do jornalismo, que o afastam do modelo exclusivamente comercial, e, portanto, lucrativo. Miguel Crespo partilhou perspetivas sobre esta matéria com Pedro Coelho, jornalista da SIC, e presidente do próximo Congresso de Jornalistas, que vai realizar-se em janeiro de 2024, e ainda Paula Cardoso, do projeto Afrolink, uma plataforma digital que procura dar visibilidade aos afrodescendentes.

A revista Gerador é uma publicação que assume realizar jornalismo lento. O debate foi uma das iniciativas que enquadrou o lançamento de mais uma revista Gerador, que tem edição quadrimestral. https://gerador.eu/revista/

A conversa decorreu num prédio de cinco andares no centro de Lisboa, no Príncipe Real, onde a equipa Gerador se instalou para promover diversas atividades. Programaram-se dois meses de ações que têm como objetivo pensar a atualidade: o futuro do Jornalismo, reflexões sobre a memória colonial coletiva, sustentabilidade e cultura.
