Bruxelas: Importância da formação destinada a jornalistas e da preparação dos jovens para a cidadania digital

Vitor Tomé, especialista em literacia para os média, membro da equipa de investigadores do IBERIFIER, participou na Semana Europeia da Juventude, que decorreu entre 12 e 19 de abril, no Parlamento Europeu, em Bruxelas. https://youth.europa.eu/events/european-youth-week-2024_en

Vítor Tomé sublinhou, na apresentação que decorreu no painel “Digital Citizenship and empowerment: Making your vote count!”, entre as 11.45 e as 12.45 horas, a importância do entendimento dos mecanismos da desinformação para evitar problemas à democracia e descreveu como a formação que tem sido ministrada a jornalistas, no âmbito do projeto IBERIFIER, na Península Ibérica, Portugal e Espanha, tem dado um contributo na análise do fenómeno, de forma a evitá-lo em diferentes frentes.

Sensibilizar e aprender como atuar diante da desinformação, como fazer verificação, por exemplo, revelam-se fundamentais para os jornalistas, defendeu. Vítor Tomé salientou ainda a importância da preparação dos jovens para saberem lidar com a cidadania digital.

A moderação coube a Marta Markowska, da DGEAC. Participaram ainda neste painel Sally Reynolds, do Media and Learning Association, de Bruxelas, e a Loredana Disci, do European Disability Fórum.
