Lecture in Costa Rica: Charo Sádaba explains the principles and methods of media literacy

Iberifier researcher Charo Sádaba, Professor at the University of Navarra, will give a lecture on media literacy and disinformation on October 15 in San José, Costa Rica. The event is organized by the Spanish Cultural Center in Costa Rica.

In her lecture, Professor Sádaba will explain the principles and methods of media literacy, a discipline that equips citizens with the tools to distinguish between fact and fiction, enhancing their ability to navigate content and resist informational manipulation. This is one of the key areas of action for Iberifier, which promotes initiatives to combat disinformation by raising public awareness of the risks posed by technology and providing formal education in content analysis and comprehension.

A prolific researcher, Charo Sádaba has primarily focused on the relationship between adolescents and minors and technology. In this field, she has been involved in several research projects in Latin America, Spain, and Europe. Recently, she participated in the European Commission’s expert group on digital literacy.

At the Iberifier observatory, Sádaba coordinates media literacy activities alongside Portuguese researcher Vitor Tomé. This lecture in San José, Costa Rica, is part of Iberifier’s initiative to extend the reach of its activities to the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking communities.
