Double recognition for IBERIFIER at the 2025 Index Communication Awards

Last week, the 2025 Index Communication Awards ceremony took place, recognising some of the most influential research of the past year in the field of communication. In this edition, two of the awards went to initiatives driven by the IBERIFIER project or by members of its team.

On the one hand, the special issue Disinformation and Trust in the Media, promoted by IBERIFIER and published in July last year, received the 2025 Index Award in the category of Highest-Impact Monograph. The volume was coordinated by Ramón Salaverría (University of Navarra), Ingrid Bachmann (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile) and Raúl Magallón-Rosa (Carlos III University of Madrid). It brings together contributions addressing topics such as WhatsApp, tolerance for sharing disinformation, cyberhate, and media trust in Southern Europe, among others. Collectively, these works strengthen critical analysis in communication and applied research on current social challenges.

In addition, the same authors were recognised for the most cited article of 2024, Disinformation and Trust in the Media: Proposals for Action, a study that has become an essential reference for understanding and addressing today’s key communication challenges thanks to its impact and analytical clarity.

With these two awards, IBERIFIER reinforces its role as a leading reference in the study and fight against disinformation in the Iberian and European spheres.
