The Spanish news agency received a Global Fact-Checking Award on 19 June for its multimedia project Fake News, Real Victims (Noticias falsas, víctimas reales). The distinction was awarded during an international conference held in Lithuania, which brought together researchers and fact-checkers from around the world.
The award, presented by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) in the Creative Format category, recognises not only the project’s innovation but also its ability to engage audiences.
Fake News, Real Victims tells several stories illustrating how disinformation has profoundly affected people’s lives. The award was received by Sergio Hernandez, Head of EFE Verifica. EFE Verifica is one of the fact-checking organisations that forms part of IBERIFIER.
