Miguel Crespo takes part in international conference in Tartu discussing innovative models of journalism

Miguel Crespo is participating this Thursday in the international conference organised by the European Journalism Training Association, taking place in Tartu, Estonia, until 22 May. The Director of the Portuguese Journalists Training Center and journalism training specialist will present an analysis of Portuguese journalists’ relationship with artificial intelligence, based on a 2026 study developed by researchers under the IBERIFIER label.

Throughout the event, participants will discuss innovative teaching strategies, mentorship models, mental health and ways of preparing students not only to navigate today’s media landscape, but also to find purpose and fulfilment in the profession.

The international gathering brings together lecturers, researchers and journalism professionals to reflect on the current challenges facing journalism education and the future of the profession. Under the theme “Beyond the Deadline: Teaching the Happiness of Journalism”, this year’s edition focuses on promoting sustainable, ethical and emotionally balanced journalism.

The conference seeks to examine how journalism education can contribute to the well-being of media professionals in a context marked by burnout, precarious working conditions and growing public distrust of the media.
