What are the new skills and requirements facing local press journalists? The Regional Press Technical Days, which brought together journalists and subject-matter experts, analysed and discussed emerging methodologies. The event, organised by the Portuguese Press Association, took place on 8 May at the premises of the Portuguese Journalists Training Centre, CENJOR, in Lisbon.
Miguel Crespo, director of CENJOR and researcher at IBERIFIER, took part in the panel dedicated to the theme “Journalism Training: Skills for a Sector in Transformation”, where participants reflected on the evolution of the competencies required of media professionals in a context marked by digitalisation, the multiplicity of platforms, and the increasing complexity of information flows.
In his capacity as CENJOR’s director, Miguel Crespo also acted as host of the event, underlining the importance of continuous training in the sector and advocating the continuation of initiatives of this kind as a way of strengthening the qualification and sustainability of the media landscape.
The event, organised by the Associação Portuguesa de Imprensa, brought together media professionals to debate the current challenges facing journalism and the regional press, with a particular focus on digital transformation and the new demands of the media ecosystem.
