Around 30 teachers from different educational levels took part, on 9 June, in the training session “Uses of AI in the Classroom and at School”, held at Horace Silver Secondary School on the Island of Maio, Cabo Verde.
The three-hour training session was designed for teachers and educators and aimed to introduce practical applications of artificial intelligence in educational settings, exploring its potential to support teaching, learning and school management.
This initiative forms part of a capacity-building programme that IBERIFIER has been delivering on the Island of Maio for six consecutive years, as part of a partnership with the NGO Magnaligue. Throughout this period, a range of activities has been organised for the educational community and the wider public, with the aim of promoting digital literacy and the informed use of new technologies.
In 2025 and 2026, the programme was expanded to include public lectures held at the Maio Municipal Council. This year’s event took place on 11 June and focused on the theme “How AI is Changing the Life of Every One of Us”, providing an opportunity to reflect on the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on everyday life, work, education and society.
