Vítor Tomé, who leads the project’s Media Literacy strand, delivered the conference presentation “Media Literacy – Disinformation and the Training of Trainers” at the Academia de Formadores 2026, held in Peniche, on 13 July 2026.
Organised by Fórum Turismo, the Academia de Formadores is Portugal’s national meeting for tourism trainers, bringing together educators, trainers and experts to discuss emerging challenges in education and professional training. The event combines keynote presentations, practical sessions and networking opportunities, with a particular focus on equipping trainers with innovative approaches and skills for an evolving educational landscape.
During his presentation, Vítor Tomé explored the growing impact of disinformation on society and emphasised the importance of media literacy in the professional development of trainers. He highlighted the need to strengthen critical thinking, information verification and responsible engagement with digital media, equipping trainers to foster these essential competences among learners in an increasingly complex information environment.
