Suscitar reação é a base do negócio das redes

Gustavo Cardoso considera que o controlo do discurso de ódio exposto nas redes sociais enfrenta um problema estrutural que tem a ver com o próprio modelo de funcionamento destas empresas. A base do negócio das redes é precisamente a reação dos participantes. Ora, quando uma rede social se dispõe a moderar essa reação está a insurgir-se contra o seu princípio fundamental e está a prejudicar-se, explicou o sociólogo.

Em declarações à Antena 1, no “Espaço das 10”, de dia 5 de maio, a propósito do discurso de ódio durante a guerra na Ucrânia, o coordenador do Iberifier sublinhou que o crescendo do discurso de ódio em tempo de guerra é expectável. “A guerra incita ao ódio e à violência e portanto não é estranho que estes cresçam e surjam mais inflamados”, disse. https://www.rtp.pt/play/p517/e615258/espaco-das-10

Outro dos motivos para o crescendo do discurso de ódio relaciona-se com a “cultura de debate inflamado que domina, por exemplo, nas televisões”. Gustavo Cardoso explicou que a tendência na atualidade é depararmo-nos com discussões acesas, muito divididas em termos de posições. “As discussões são acaloradas mas não procuram consenso, mas apenas mais oposição”.

O cientista político António Costa Pinto, outro dos convidados, lembrou que o discurso de ódio faz parte da estrutura das sociedades. “O que tem acontecido é que os Estados modernos foram exercendo regulamentação, limitando-os”.
