The Granada Journalism Festival strips away the masks of the profession

The event, organized by 1001 Medios and IBERIFIER, will bring together journalists, content creators, and researchers to reflect on the new challenges facing today’s information ecosystem.

Granada will once again become a frontline against disinformation during the Granada Journalism Festival (FPGrx), which invites reflection on the credibility of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence, hoaxes, and digital transformation. Taking place on October 31 and November 1, the festival aims to “strip away the masks” of the profession and reaffirm the value of truthful, civic-minded journalism.

Over two days and across three emblematic venues —the Federico García Lorca Center, Palacio de los Patos, and Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo— FPGrx will bring together around forty voices from journalism and academia. Highlights include contributions from Pepa Bueno (RTVE), David Jiménez (former editor of El Mundo), Gumersindo Lafuente (El País, elDiario.es), and Clara Jiménez (Maldita.es), as well as representatives from El Confidencial, Mediaset, and Xataka. The debates and workshops will tackle issues such as media credibility, transmedia storytelling, the role of influencers, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalism.

The IBERIFIER observatory will play an active role in the festival through three of its researchers. Ramón Salaverría, Professor of Journalism at the University of Navarra and coordinator of the consortium, will speak at the opening session. Eva Herrero, Associate Professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid, will take part in the panel on media literacy, contributing her expertise in digital communication and citizen participation against disinformation. In addition, Juan Gómez Romero, Professor at the University of Granada, will participate in the panel on artificial intelligence and journalism, addressing the ethical and technological challenges of its integration into newsrooms.

The Granada Journalism Festival is free and open to the public with prior registration. The full program and registration forms are available on the official website: festivaldeperiodismodegranada.com.
